Caffeine amounts are estimates
The caffeine amount shown for each drink is a typical value for its size. Real amounts vary by brand, bean or leaf, strength, preparation and serving. For your own drinks, the number you enter is the number we use.
Sleep estimates
The bedtime estimate uses the drinks you logged in the last 24 hours and an average caffeine half-life of about 5 hours. People process caffeine at different speeds, and factors such as medication, pregnancy and genetics can change this a lot. If you choose a different caffeine sensitivity in the app, the estimate uses a half-life of about 3.5 or 7 hours instead; that is your own setting, not a measurement of your body. Treat it as a general guide.
The sleep and caffeine pattern in the app compares your own logged drinks with the sleep recorded in Apple Health or Health Connect. It describes a pattern in your data, not a cause, and it is not medical advice.
Daily goal
CoffeeCut starts you at a gentle 200 mg goal, and you can change it in Settings. Health authorities such as the U.S. FDA cite up to about 400 mg a day as an amount not generally associated with negative effects for most healthy adults, but sensitivity varies and some people should have much less.
